Conversation with the Heart - Chapter 1

Preface

As far back as I can remember one of my deepest desires was to have a wise, loving grandfather who would sit me on his lap and tell me stories about the world and the universe. Since I came from a very humble French Canadian background, acquiring such knowledge was not the highest priority for my family: there was no one in my immediate circle who could fill that void. One night, an English speaking uncle who lived far away made a rare visit to our cottage. He sat the kids out back and told us about the names of the stars and the constellations. I’ll never forget the thrill of that night and the feeling of travelling the universe through his knowledge. It only happened once, but the power and beauty of that experience will be forever etched in my memory. I never got around to thanking him, but I will always be grateful to that uncle for opening up my world to the possibility of my dreams. Looking back, perhaps it was the beginning of a conversation with my own heart and my first clue that the heart not only listens—it answers even if we’re not completely aware at the time that our wishes are being granted...
